LanguageGuessr is an exciting online game that challenges players to identify languages from audio samples, similar to the popular GeoGuessr but for languages. We're looking for a talented and entrepreneurial developer to help take our project to the next level.You can play the game at https://languageguessr.io
How it works:
- a user gets 5 audio files per round a user gets full points
- if it guesses a country in which the language is spokenPosition
Overview:
We're seeking a self-starter full stack developer with experience in building products from 0 to 1. As a key contributor to LanguageGuessr, you'll work on various aspects of the application, from backend logic to frontend components, helping to shape and improve the user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement new gamification features, including achievements based on complex SQL queries
- Create and integrate multiplayer functionalityImprove algorithms for personalized user experiences
- Build and refine both backend logic and frontend componentsRapidly prototype and iterate on new features
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in full stack development, particularly with NextJS and TypeScript
- Familiarity with Supabase or similar database technologies
- Strong background in building side projects or working at early-stage startups
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of features from conception to deployment
- Passion for language learning, games, or both is a plus

Example Projects:
- Implement achievements like "Correctly guess all languages spoken in Asia
- Develop multiplayer functionality for simultaneous play
- Create algorithms for personalized audio file selection based on user history; eg how do you make sure that the user always guesses 60% correctly, regardless how correct they are. If previous round a user has only 1 correct, you give easier languages, if they had all correct, you give more difficult languages. But easiness differs per user
